Abi Clarke
In the older
days (i.e. in the early 2020s comedians would have been expected to entertain
for decades in the UK before being invited onto the TV panel and then selling
out arena shows. It's not so easy at the moment. One art form that can still be
performed live is comedy, however there's no way to expect arena shows. One
Bristol comedian has found an immense global audience during lockdown via
social media. Making it big on the internet isn't something that Abi Clarke was
hoping to achieve. Abi, who is 24, lives in Henbury and began posting videos
online "to establish a community of like-minded people who could
appreciate my standup comedy." "I performed a lot in Devon to men in
their 50s that were not so enthusiastic about my Love Island Sims and Twilight
references so it was time to search online for other young women who love my
stand-up routine." Abi, who lives in Henbury, with her parents, continues
to upload her video content to Instagram, Twitter, and Tik Tok. She gets inspiration
from a variety of sources, such as conversations with strangers, the chat room,
and writing notes on her phone.
